Board Shorts Thor is the movie Marvel needs to make next

Thor and his put-upon roommate Darryl are back in a new short that needs to be a movie, Thor Ragnarok be damned. In “Team Thor, Part 2,” which comes on the Doctor Strange Blu-ray, we see Thor, on a mountain bike, wearing board shorts and a cape, paying his and Darryl’s rent with a pumpkin and Asgardian coins. Said coins are actually worthless in Australia, but that doesn’t stop things from spiraling a little bit out of control.

Darryl made his first appearance last year in a short explaining just what Thor was up to during Captain America: Civil War. Turns out, he moved into a flat and just started living his best life. The original, directed by Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, was similarly silly and light. Frankly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs more of this.

Watch the new trailer for Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One

We got our first look at Steven Spielberg’s next big science fiction movie Ready Player One at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, and today, Warner Bros. released a new trailer on Facebook Live, with author Ernie Cline answering questions about the origins of the story.

Based Ernie Cline’s debut novel, Ready Player One is set in a dystopian world where almost everyone spends a majority of their time in a virtual reality system known as OASIS, where players can visit any conceivable world (allowing the book to mash up an incredible number of ‘80s pop culture references). The trailer opens with Wade Watts (played by The Tree of Life / X-Men: Apocalypse star Tye Sheridan) saying that he got his name because his father thought that it sounded like a superhero name. He then talks about OASIS, which allows people to do anything, and that people stay because they can become anyone.

Watch a 360-degree video of the Porsche 919 hybrid whipping around Le Mans

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is a race of extremes. It’s a test of endurance, a showcase of technology, and it’s also all about speed. To understand the first of those, you’ll have to wait until the 85th running of the race, which takes place this weekend. But you can definitely get a sense of the last two with the 360-degree video seen above.

Porsche released the video today, which features driver Marc Lieb taking a full-speed lap around the famous 8.5-mile Circuit de la Sarthe in the company’s 919 Hybrid prototype car. Lieb knows his way around Le Mans — he won the race for Porsche last year, and helped bring home podium finishes in the two years before that. Here, the hybrid engine whines its way to well over 200 miles per hour on the longest straights as Lieb puts down a lap that’s only a few seconds off the race pace.

Jurassic World Evolution could be the dino theme park simulator of your dreams

Life finds a way — but that doesn’t mean you can’t help a little. This weekend at Gamescom in Germany, developer Frontier announced a new title called Jurassic World Evolution, which will let players design and build the dinosaur-filled theme park of their dreams.

And while the debut trailer doesn’t show any real gameplay, it does show the elements you’d expect from the franchise, including a rampaging T. rex, heavily fortified buildings, a huge expanse of jungle, and that stirring Jurassic Park theme. Movie tie-ins are rarely exciting, but Frontier has a good deal of experience in the theme park sim genre — including titles like Planet Coaster, Scream Ride, and the adorable Kinect-enabled Zoo Tycoon — so there’s reason to be optimistic.

Watch NASA broadcast the first 4K live stream from space today at 1:30PM ET

NASA has been uploading 4K footage from the International Space Station to YouTube for almost two years now, but today the agency is trying something new: the first 4K live stream from space. ISS commander Peggy Whitson will use a RED Epic Dragon (and a special UHD encoder from Amazon Web Services) to perform the highest resolution off-Earth live stream ever, and you can watch it here at 1:30PM ET.

Amazon is hosting the stream as part of its participation in the National Association of Broadcasters trade show, or NAB, which is happening right now in Las Vegas. Because of this, the stream will feature a conversation between Whitson and an AWS executive. That might not sound terribly thrilling, but Whitson recently broke the record for total days spent in space by a US astronaut, after which she got a call from Donald Trump, so she at least has plenty to talk about.
