Galaxy S7 could launch in Europe on March 11th

The smartphone world is eagerly anticipating the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S7 flagship smartphones next month and it turns out that a European roll out for the phones could be scheduled as early as March 11th, according to the latest report.

The date comes from the same source who provided us with an exclusive look at the LG G5’s redesign and the Galaxy S7’s dimensions, as well as correctly detailing the size of Galaxy S6 Edge+ last year, so we are pretty confident about this.

Leaked ZTE Nubia Z11 renders reveal dual rear camera

Back in November last year we saw our first leaks of ZTE’s bezel-less Nubia Z11, the successor to the Nubia Z9. The handset has once again appeared in a couple of leaked renders (combined together above), but this time it is sporting quite a different rear camera design.

The big change in these renders is the inclusion of what looks like a dual-rear camera design, complete with a dual LED flash. Dual-rear cameras have repeatedly come in and out of preference in the flagship smartphone space and are typically used to allow for adjustable depth and focus even after a picture has been taken.

More signs point to early arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S7

One of the first rumors we heard about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 was that it may be heading to market a little earlier than expected and the latest mutterings add some more weight to this expectation. According to an anonymous industry insider, Samsung has already begun developing its firmware for the Galaxy S7, a whole month earlier than the company started work for the Galaxy S6. If we expect a similar development time, this would put the Galaxy S7 on course for a February 2016 release.

Given that Samsung released its Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ outside and ahead of a major industry event, IFA in Berlin this September, the company may be planning to make its announcement ahead of the Mobile World Congress in March.

Report: Huawei is planning a stylus-equipped smartphone

According to the Korean media, Huawei has been mulling over development of a new super-size smartphone, complete with its own stylus technology. Huawei is said to have been in talks with a couple of digital stylus manufacturers in the country, implying that the growing Chinese smartphone company could launch a competitor to Samsung’s world renowned Galaxy Note series in the future.

Apparently, Huawei originally approached Wacom, the company that developed the S Pen in conjunction with Samsung. However, the two were unable to reach an agreement, as there is presumably some exclusivity deal regarding S Pen technology. Huawei has now managed to find a competitor that can produce a digitizer with a price and performance that will “compete with Wacom’s products”.

Report: Samsung to focus on profits rather than growth

It’s no secret that Samsung has been having a tough time maintaining its previously strong profit levels over the past few quarters and it has caused many to speculate about how the electronics giant will pull itself out of this problem. According to an anonymous, but apparently high ranking source, Samsung is preparing to adjust its approach to focus on profitability rather than trying to grow its existing business any further.

This news suggests that Samsung may be looking to further cut costs to boost profits, if it no longer believes that it can expand its existing business much further. Some sources suggest that Samsung may examine its current staffing levels, but there’s no official indication as to exactly how or where the company will make such savings. At the beginning of the year, Samsung planned to reduce its marketing budget, but many expect that it will have to go further to boost its profit levels.

HTC A9 (Aero) images leaked

Steve Hemmerstoffer, aka @OnLeaks, has just uploaded a couple of pictures apparently showing off the upcoming HTC A9, or the HTC Aero if you prefer. The handset has leaked a couple of time already this year and could form the beginning of a new range from HTC. The phone has been rumored to be heading to Sprint this November too.

The leak shows off the front and the back of the handset, alongside Apple’s latest flagship. While the A9’s design is not that different from HTC’s long running One range, the move over towards a flat back certainly leaves the handset bearing greater resemblance to Apple’s iPhone 6. I can’t say that I’m a big fan of the gold look either.
